If these creatures are invading your home, you may want to call a professional exterminator to come to your home, locate the pests and use the proper type of termite extermination to get rid of them. Many homeowners attempt do-it-yourself termite pest control of their own. If you, too, would like to eliminate termites on your own, you may have a few questions like the ones below. Q: What is the fastest method for termite extermination? A: This question is asked often and unfortunately, there is not one answer that works 100 percent. If you have a severe termite problem, your best bet is to call a professional pest exterminator. You can also try using a specific pesticide or insecticide spray that kills termites on contact. Next to a professional service, this is one of the fastest methods of termite pest control. Q: Do I have to use termite-specific products? A: In many instances, you should definitely use termite-specific products. Read the label of the product and ensure it will attack the type of termite infestation you have. The most common type is the subterranean termite, which is found all over the United States. If you live in the southernmost states, you may have drywood termites. In either case, make sure the product you are using is specific to the termites, as other products may not be effective. Q: Can I use more than one product at a time? A: Termite pest control is a broad topic, and you might be tempted to buy several products and go ‘all out’ in your termite extermination. However, this may not be any more effective than using just one product. If you’re planning on using multiple termite extermination products, try using bait and termite traps. (Bait is sprayed around the outside of your home to keep the pests from entering.) Try not to mix products, though, and never use any type of fumigation product without first reading the directions. Q: I can't get rid of the termites no matter what type of termite pest control I use? A: Unfortunately, this is an all too common problem. Termite colonies can be extensive and they can be very well hidden. More so, unless you place the termite pest control products in the proper places, you may never get to them. If you do not target the entire colony, they could return within a few months. In these situations, it is best to call a professional exterminator to deal with the termite extermination once and for all. Termite pest control is not an easy process. If you have more questions or need advice, contact a professional pest exterminator. He or she can tackle the problem with you and save your home from termite destruction.
